Association of Asian Studies (AAS), the academic association for anyone in the field of Asian Studies. AAS maintains an extensive 'Asia Resources on the World Wide Web', an Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library, and a powerful Bibliography of Asian Studies, BAS (as of July, 2004, the BAS Online contains over 590,000 references to books, journal articles, individually-authored monographs, chapters in edited volumes, conference proceedings, anthologies, and Festschriften, etc., published from 1971 until the present day). From AAS homepage you get good links to American grants and fellowships for Asian Studies. Although Warwick library has not subscribed to the AAS publication, Journal of Asian Studies, you can search and download its articles using JSTOR.

The Asian Studies WWW Monitor, hosted by the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University (ANU). This is an internet journal (ISSN 1329-9778) established on 21 April 1994 that provides daily abstracts and reviews of new/updated online resources of significance to research, teaching and communications dealing with Asian Studies. This journal is the only publication of this kind in the world. On 4 October 2005, the webmasters announced that 'The email edition of this Journal has now over 4,810 subscribers. Currently (i.e. in Oct 2005) The Monitor has a Google rank #2 among the 68,700,000 'asian studies' web pages published world-wide.'
Modern Chinese Literature and Culture (MCLC), maintained by the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, The Ohio State University, in conjunction with the journal Modern Chinese Literature and Culture. This site is full of resources on modern Chinese literature, film, art and culture. Particularly useful for the study of translation is the bibliography of modern Chinese literary works in English translation, listed in order of authors.
Chinese History Research Site, maintained by the University of San Diego, for book reviews and critical essays on the historiography of the Cultural Revolution, English and Chinese materials relating to historical research on modern China, etc. Very useful also the (i) searchable catalogues of major university and national libraries in US, Europe, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and PRC; (ii) long list of China-related websites.
China Historical GIS: an online gazetteer search engine that gives data of administrative changes from 21 BC to 1911, area by area, in China.
China Dimensions: a site with a variety of socioeconomic data, including Geographic Information System (GIS) databases that cover the administrative regions of China and socioeconomic data to track China's economic growth, population increases, and environmental change.
Translation and China (cultural translation; China's cultural encounters with the world)
A survey of Chinese literature in Dutch translation from 1767 to 1999: compiled by Audrey Heijns (MA), research assistant at the Research Centre for Translation at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This survey shows some two hundred book titles (journal publications are not included) have been translated into Dutch between the mid 18th century and the late 20th century. The survey provides valuable data for work in translation studies and Chinese studies alike, take a look.

Hong Kong Translation Society: incorporated in October 1971, it has become a member association of the Translators' Association of China since 1986 and of the Federation Internationale des Traducteurs since 1988. It publishes the journal Translation Quarterly.
Asia House in London: it promotes appreciation and understanding of Asian countries, from Iran in the west to Japan in the east and from the Central Asian Republics in the north to Indonesia in the south. Its activities range from talks to exhibitions and shows, covering arts, religions, literatures and economies. It is the winner of Charity Awards 2005 ('Arts, Culture and Heritage' category).
