Current Research

I am an expert in insect chemoreception. My main objective is to understand how these sophisticated organisms smell chemicals in their environment. Throughout my career, I have been studying the function of various insect chemosensory proteins at different levels (molecular, physiological, behavioural levels), by using a diversity of functional approaches such as RNAi, transgenesis, mutagenesis, heterologous expression systems and electrophysiological recordings.

Broader interests and activities

I have a broad interest in understanding the evolutionary processes underlying the expansion and functional diversification of chemosensory gene repertoires in insects and other organisms.
