Who Do We Work With?

Members of the Warwick Mathematics Institute collaborate with hundreds of institutions and people worldwide. These are a small selection.

Newton Institute

The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cambridge is a major international research centre. Members of the WMI have organised conferences and other activities at the Newton Institute, in addition to substantial "homegrown" events of the same type through Warwick's Mathematics Research Centre.

Gresham College

Gresham College in London promotes the public understanding of science, the arts, the humanities, and commerce through free public lectures by its eight professors: Astronomy, Commerce, Divinity, Geometry, Law, Music, Physic, Rhetoric.

Mathematical Biosciences Institute, Columbus, Ohio

Martin Golubitsky, the new Director of MBI, is a long-term collaborator with Ian Stewart. They are currently working together on symmetry in dynamics, and networks.

Sir Terry Pratchett

Sir Terry Pratchett is among the UK's bestselling authors, famous in particular for his Discworld series of humorous and satirical fantasy books. Unless you know the story already, you may be surprised to see Terry's name here. In 2004, Warwick awarded him an honorary degree. It was a D.Litt, because that seemed appropriate, but his name was initially put forward by the Mathematics Department. Jack Cohen and Ian Stewart, both members of the Department at that time, have worked with him co-authoring the Science of Discworld trilogy, and are regular participants in the biannual Discworld Conventions.
