School on Mathematics of Evolutionary Dynamics

Tuesday 11 – Thursday 13 December 2007

Organisers: Robert MacKay and Mauro Mobilia

Programme

As part of a project entitled Taught Postgraduate Course on Mathematics in the Science of Complex Systems funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), we are pleased to announce the above Postgraduate School.

The core of the school is three hours of lectures by each of three invited Speakers. Participants are also invited to submit proposals for short oral contributions or posters.

The primary goal of this 3-day course is to illustrate how mathematical concepts can be applied in Complexity Science, with an emphasis on evolutionary dynamics and related problems.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Erwin Frey, Arnold Sommerfeld Center for Theoretical Physics, University of Munich,
  • Raymond Goldstein, DAMTP, University of Cambridge,
  • Alan McKane, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Manchester.

The first lecture will begin at 10:00am Tuesday 11 December and the final lecture will end by 16:00pm Thursday 13 December 2007.

Oral contributions and posters: Participants, especially postgraduate students, are encouraged to present a short oral contribution (8 minutes + 2 minutes of discussion) or a poster on a relevant topic. Email Mauro Mobilia with your name and affiliation, title and abstract. Please include in the subject line of the email Evolutionary Dynamics 07–ORAL CONTRIBUTION ABSTRACT or Evolutionary Dynamics 07 – POSTER ABSTRACT

Deadline to submit abstracts: 10 November 2007

Further details, registration, accommodation requests and applications for travel and accommodation expenses are on line here. There is no fee for this school.
