Postgraduate Study

Deciding to do research in physics and then choosing where to do it are undoubtedly the most important decisions that will affect your career.

This is true whether you eventually continue with scientific research and development, or apply the skills you are about to acquire differently. Our postgraduates have done both, with equal success.

On these pages we outline our research interests and expertise and the facilities within the Department, but we would encourage you to visit us so that you can talk to the researchers with whom you would work, see where you would work and the equipment that you would use.

We think we have a friendly, first-rate department, but you must judge this for yourself. You will also want to see the Warwick University campus where you will be based and its facilities, of which we are very proud.

Our research activity is driven by our enthusiasm for understanding and applying physics and our aim is to transmit that excitement to you as part of your training. Our links with the newly formed Midlands Physics Alliance (Birmingham, Nottingham and Warwick Physics Departments) will enhance your research experience through access to the pooled resources of our three departments.

I wish you every success in whatever research you choose to undertake.
