Conference brings together professionals to discuss research in political economy of development

The annual Political Economy of Development Conference featured 12 seminar talks and 12 discussants on political economy of development spread over two days.

More than 40 faculty delegates from top universities in Europe and in the U.S. discussed political economy of development research at Warwick, Scarmam House. These talks were given by promising assistant professors and young associate professors, such as Horacio Lareguy (Harvard University), Monica Martinez Bravo (CEMFI), Vincent Pons (Harvard University), among many others.

The aim of this conference was to bring together leading academics and researchers to discuss recent advances in political economy of development and to provide a platform to stimulate collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking between economists and political scientists.

Besides the excellent line-up of high quality research papers and young and energetic atmosphere, the conference was also very successful in terms of gender balance. In particular, there were five women among 12 speakers and six women among 12 discussants.

The conference presented plenty of opportunities for networking among professionals and researchers during coffee breaks and at lunch. The annual conference contributed to increase Warwick visibility, academic exchange, and networking opportunity between the Department of Economics and young scholars from top universities around the world.
