About Go redirects
The University's website is highly structured to keep it organised and make it easier to administer. Although there are obvious benefits to this system, long web addresses are difficult to remember, tell people or fit on stationery.
Go.Warwick is the University's service to shorten long web addresses (URLs) to create short, memorable URLs, known as Go redirects.
For example, the web address for the Centre for Research in Post-Kantian European Philosophy is:
https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/philosophy/research/activities/postkantian
Staff can use the Go.Warwick service to request and manage short, memorable web addresses. Once created, you can cite a short address as:
https://warwick.ac.uk/postkantian
Visitors to the short URL will be automatically redirected to the correct page.
As well as being easier to remember, Go redirects on printed material help to prevent the material from becoming obsolete if you restructure your website. If a URL changes, you can update the Go redirect to point to the new location.
Note: if you include a URL in an email or Word document and you want the reader to be able to select it, you still need to put https:// in front of it.
