Current Position
I am an IAS Junior Research Fellow in English Studies at Durham University, where I also serve on the advisory board for the Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies (CNCS).

I am a specialist in nineteenth-century literature, with particular interests in Classical Reception and Orientalism. My current project examines the place of Classical culture in British engagements with China, from the 1793 Macartney Embassy to the destruction of the Summer Palace in 1860.

Here's an interview about my first book and current projects.
