Organisation

There are two classes per week for a total of three hours. Two hours are dedicated to the set texts and one hour to Greek grammar work on the prose author.

Students are expected to prepare work at home in advance of the classes: sections of the set texts before the set texts classes (so that the class could be spent on refining translations, discussing difficult linguistic points, matters of style and interpretation) and grammar and translation work in advance of the grammar classes.

It is essential that students bring to class a copy of James Morwood's Oxford Grammar of Classical Greek. For working on the texts in your own time, I strongly recommend that you own your own hard-copy of a Greek Lexicon (perhaps either LSJ or the new Cambridge Lexicon)
