Father of two (born 2000s), from Midlands

My first child was born in Spain in 2004. I was present in the 2 weeks before her birth including trips the hospital. On the day of my daughter's birth my wife was induced and I was expecting to go with her to the theatre to be there during the childbirth but was told by the medical staff that I was not allowed to accompany her. I was told by my wife afterwards that in Spain husbands are not present at birth. I don't know if that is still the case.

My second child was born at hospital in Britain. I was allowed/encouraged to be at my wife's side throughout. I watched the birth and was hoping/expecting to be allowed to cut the umbilical cord. However I think because of some complications in the birth the doctors wanted to take charge and so I was left to record events on my camera phone.
