I had a planned caesarian section as my son was breech. My husband thought it over and decided he did not want to see me 'cut open' so waited outside. Unfortunately the midwives assumed that as he was not with me he was not anywhere nearby, so did not think to tell him the birth had gone OK or to show him the baby. He spent a very 1.5-2 hours until we were all reunited.
