Travel Information: How to Get Here

Conference Location
The conference will take place at the University of Warwick, which is located outside the city of Coventry. Note that, confusingly, Warwick University is not in the town of Warwick. You can find more information about the University at http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/insite/

Hotel
Accommodation has been booked at the Angel Hotel, in Leamington Spa, a pleasant Regency town with a (sadly defunct) mineral spa located about 10 miles from the University of Warwick. We will arrange transport between the hotel and the University. The hotel's website is at http://www.angelhotelleamington.co.uk/

Transport

By Air
If you will be traveling by air and have not already booked your flight please do so promptly, so as to get as reasonable a fare as possible. You may wish to consider flying to Birmingham International Airport, which is about half an hour's taxi ride from the University. It is much closer to the University (and to Leamington) than any of the London Airports. If you arrive at Birmingham International Airport you should take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The taxi ride will take about half an hour and will cost about £35 (which we will of course reimburse).

If you will be arriving at Heathrow or Gatwick then you will need to arrange transport from the airport to Leamington. There are several options you might consider:

1. Coach. National Express runs coaches from Heathrow and Gatwick to the Midlands. You can find details about their services at http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm. The journey takes about 1.5 hours from Heathrow, and 2 from Gatwick, more or less. If you do travel by coach note that the stop closest to Leamington (where the hotel is) is Warwick Parkway. From Warwick Parkway you will need a taxi to take you to the hotel (about 15 minutes' journey). If you let us know which coach you will be taking we can arrange for a taxi to meet you. The coach is very convenient and does not entail dragging your bags across London. It's also usually cheaper than the train.

2. Train. There are (infrequent) trains from Heathrow and Gatwick to Leamington Station. You can find details at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

3. Tube and Train. You can take the underground from either Gatwick or Heathrow into central London and then take a train to Leamington. The trains from London to Leamington leave from Marylebone Station. If for some reason you wish to travel to Coventry instead of Leamington, you will need to take a train from Euston Station, rather than from Marylebone. Again, you can find details about train times at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

You might also wish to consult the travel information on the Warwick University website: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/directions/international/

By Land

If you will be traveling by train then you should head for Leamington. See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ for details. You can take a taxi from the station to the hotel, or if you are feeling energetic you could walk. It will take you between 20 and 30 minutes, I expect. See Google maps for a street plan of Leamington. The hotel is located on Regent Street.

If you are driving then you should contact the Angel Hotel for directions about driving to Leamington, and also about parking options. Their number is 01926 881296. For information about driving to the University see the information at http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/directions/

If you wish to travel by coach you can find information at http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm. See also the Warwick University website: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/directions/coach/
