Rebekah Vince
Curriculum Vitae
In April 2018, I began an Early Career Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Study, University of Warwick. In June 2018, I successfully passed my PhD viva. Funded by The Wolfson Foundation, my doctoral research explores Francophone North African texts which deal with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, underpinned by the traumatic legacies of genocide and colonialism. In September-December 2016, I was a visiting scholar at the University of Ghent (Belgium) as part of the Cultural Memory Studies Initiative, directed by Stef Craps. As an Associate Tutor in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Warwick (January 2017-present) I have taught seminars for Modern French Language II (Translation) and The Story of Modern France. I have also given lectures for The Story of Modern France and Representations of the Holocaust.
Having a keen interest in memory studies and postcolonial studies, I am on the Advisory Board of the Memory Studies Association (November 2016-present) and the Executive Committee of the Society for Francophone Postcolonial Studies (November 2015-present). From February to July 2018, I was an intern with the European Association for Jewish Studies and co-founded EAJS Emerge, the postgraduate arm of the association.
In 2013, I received a First-Class BA Joint Hons degree in English and French from the University of Warwick (with a year abroad as a British Council language assistant in Alsace). In 2014, I completed a Masters by Research on the legacies of the Algerian War of Independance, while teaching English as a lectrice at the University of Burgundy.
