Rebecca Infield

My PhD research (supervised by Professor Pierre-Philippe Fraiture and Dr Jessica Wardhaugh) focuses on theatre censorship during the time of decolonisation in both Francophone and Anglophone contexts. I am using archival materials and interview to examine the reactions of censors, audiences and playwrights to decolonisation and how it was depicted in theatres during the 1950s and 1960s.

Before coming to Warwick I worked at the Institut français in London where I helped organise the 2015 South Ken Kids Festival (a bilingual children's literature festival) and also worked on the online platform Culturetheque. I undertook an Erasmus Mundus Crossways in Cultural Narratives Masters programme which was run by the European Union, during which I studied at the University of Sheffield, Université de Perpignan and the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. In between my BA and my MA I worked as a lectrice at the Université de Poitiers. I completed my BA in French and English Literature at the University of Reading which included a year abroad at Université Lyon II. In September 2019 I was lectrice d'anglais at the Université de Nanterre, Paris 10 and I have since taught French at the Universities of Lancaster and Nottingham.
