Alessandra De Martino Cappuccio

alessandra.jpg Alessandra De Martino Cappuccio is an Associate Research Fellow at the University of Warwick . She obtained an LLB with Honors from the University Federico II, in Naples . Then she was awarded an MA and a PhD in Italian Studies by the University of Warwick . Her research interests in Theatre Translation generated a comparative study of English translations of plays by Eduardo De Filippo, examining issues of cultural transfer from Neapolitan into English. She has furthered her research looking at language as a political instrument in society and at the relevance of unheard voices represented in contemporary theatre. Alessandra’s experience in translation spans from law to theatre and music, and she has worked for various British institutions, including the BBC and the Royal College of Music. She also works as a legal translator for the Italian Consulate in London . In January 2006 she was engaged by the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon, as an interpreter for Compagnia Pippo Delbono during the Shakespeare Complete Works Festival.
