Rewriting Myth

The Persephone Project

Written and directed by Jonathan Heron

Performed as part of CAPITAL's New Work Festival (2nd May at 3pm and 3rd May at 6pm)

Persephone workshops

Ceres' search, Jove’s judgment, Dis’ lust all threaten to engulf Proserpine as she struggles to compose herself.

Her friend has been transformed into a bird. A local boy is transformed into a lizard.

Two nymphs and an elf witness her descent into hell and back again.

This piece is currently in development. Earlier versions have already been presented at new writing venues in London. The final draft will emerge at the CAPITAL New Work Festival in May 2009. The first phase of our work at Warwick comprised of a series of physical workshops in Summer Term 2008 (pictured above); during Spring Term 2009 we will be devising around the new draft and working towards a staged reading.

This is a unique opportunity to become involved in the creative process of an acclaimed young company (‘Best Fringe Show of 2007’ Tamara Gausi in Time Out).
