Motochika (JA) Kusaka

Motoshika (JA) Kusaka has kept a diary of his three weeks working as an interpreter with the Ninagawa Company as one of a group of Japanese students recruited by the RSC to support the production of Titus Andronicus which was performed as part of the Festival in June 2006. JA is a first-year student in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies PhD course at the University of Warwick, working on African drama. He has been interested in drama since seeing Twelfth Night for the first time at Eton College when he was there as an exchange student. Coincidentally the Ninagawa Company and JA come from the same county of Japan (Saitama) and the director of the Company, Yukio Ninagawa, now doubles as the director of the Saitama Art Theatre.
