Applying and Deadlines

The main programme of the Doctoral Training Centre consists of four-year long integrated Masters+PhD training, which starts every year at the end of September.

Applicants should hope to obtain a first class degree in a scientific, mathematical or analytical subject, and you need some natural orientation towards modelling problems in quantitative mathematical terms.

If you would like to apply for a place on our programme (with or without funding), then please see how to apply on the Graduate School website. If you wish to apply online, then please follow our step-by-step guide on the online process.

Next start date of the programme for potential applicants is the 22nd September 2014.

Applying for the combined Masters+PhD: (F3P4 and advise you want the MSC+PhD in your application) find Complexity Science under "taught" on the Graduate School website and/or in the online form. There is a modest application fee for this course. Where the Application Form invites a full research proposal, it is sufficient to tell about your motivation for research in Complexity Science.

MSc only (F3P4 and advise you want the MSC only option) applicants: find Complexity under "Taught" [Courses] on the Graduate School website and/or in the online form website. Note that we cannot offer EPSRC funding for MSc-only applicants, and there is a modest application fee for this course.

PhD Only (F3P5) applicants: find Complexity Science under "research". Please note that you must submit a PhD research proposal for this application, and advise of any members of acadmeic staff you may have approached as potential PhD supervisors. The Centre as a rule does not accept a large nukber of PhD only applicants for study, but occasionally applicants who have applied with either the MSC in Complexity Science Training, or equivailent training from another institution may be able to gain entry onto the PhD only course. We are also not usually able to offer EPSRC funding for PhD only applicants.
