(a) Subject knowledge and understanding

Students should have a conceptual understanding of [deterministic] chaos and strange attractors.
They should have systematic knowledge and practical experience of methods for analysing the long time behaviour of differential equations and iterated mappings.
They should be self-directing in addressing a wide a range of applications in physical, biological and engineering sciences.



Lectures; Classwork including in groups/teams, plus feedback; problem solving and feedback; directed reading; private study.



Oral examination;
