Warwick Q-Step Centre Schools Outreach Event

Warwick Q-Step Centre is delighted to welcome onto campus lower-sixth form students from a range of schools and colleges from across the West Midlands on Thursday 10 November 2016.

Students will have the opportunity to listen to a key-note lecture and participate in a range of activities and seminars designed to show how statistics and quantitative methods can be used in the social sciences to understand real-word problems.

Throughout the day, students will work with Warwick Q-Step Centre academics to think about questions such as:

  • How many crimes are committed each year, who commits them, and why?
  • Does finance rule?
  • Election forecasting and voting behaviour: why do people vote the way they do?
  • What do the August 2011 riots tell us about social inequalities in modern-day Britain?
  • What is democracy?

The students and their teachers will also be able to discover the beautiful university campus on guided tours led by our current Q-Step students.

If you would like to find out more about our outreach programme, please visit the Schools and Colleges webpage. You can also email us directly at Q-Step@warwick.ac.uk if you would like further information on how the Centre can work with you and your institution.
