The research intervention was evaluated in both Malawi and Tanzania.

In Malawi a randomised, controlled trial took place, and in Tanzania a before-and-after study.

There was also a qualitative reseach study to see how the trainees had implemented what they had learned as well as passing it on to colleagues.
