Warwick awarded £400,000 grant for research into NHS commissioning services

The National Institute for Health Research has awarded Warwick Medical School £400,000 to investigate how NHS managers make decisions about commissioning health services.

The project, Evidence for Management Decisions - Advancing Knowledge Utilisation in Healthcare Management, is being led by Jackie Swan from Warwick Business School and Aileen Clarke and John Powell at Warwick Medical School.

Aileen Clarke said: "The results of this research will be of direct relevance to the daily work of the managers throughout the NHS, who commission health services for the public."

The researchers hope to build on this work to develop a research hub within the Medical School looking at knowledge, evidence and innovation issues in healthcare.
