Biography

Jan originally qualified as a Registered General Nurse and spent most of her clinical career working in primary care as a District Nursing Sister and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in End of Life Care. She is an experienced health care educator with knowledge and expertise in both undergraduate and postgraduate provision and she has worked in Higher Education for over 25 years. She was the Deputy Director of Masters Programmes and Continuing Professional Development at Warwick Medical School for 7 years and her current role encompasses a number of projects on the undergraduate medical MB ChB programme including the curriculum Theme Lead for Community Learning. She is particularly interested in professionalism and held the position of the General Medical Council Regional Liaison Adviser in the West Midlands for 3 years and still works as a General Medical Council Associate. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an alumni Fellow of the Warwick International Higher Education Academy and she received a commendation in the 2009 Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence.
