Personal Development

I hold a clinically based fellowship and as such, during the first two years of my PhD, I worked clinically for an average of 2 days/month at George Eliot Hospital based in Nuneaton with my clinical supervisor, Sandra Jepson, an extended scope spinal practitioner.

During this time I undertook a number of assessments for patients with chronic low back pain and assisted in the delivery of a group cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) programme for this patient population. The group classes were based on the BeST intervention and were therefore directly related to my PhD.

This work, combined with the range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) courses that I have attended, has vastly improved by CBT skills and confidence in assessing and treating patients with chronic low back pain (LBP).
