Here you can review the course structure for MPH and register module choices for your chosen course of study.

The Masters in Public Health (MPH) course is an interdisciplinary degree, drawing upon expertise across a wide range of subject areas and seeks to explore the complexity of Public Health issues in the UK and internationally.

The course aims to provide relevant qualifications to meet national and international needs for a skilled public health workforce and to prepare students for further academic study with a view to academic careers.

The course provides students with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate systematic knowledge and understanding in a wide range of public health areas. This is reinforced with the optional modules offered on the course, allowing students to pursue their own health-related interests.

Overall, the course aims to provide a focused learning experience, suitable for full- and part-time, UK and international students in a stimulating research-led teaching environment.

To select your module preferences, please click relevant link below. Please read the below information before selecting modules routes. Once you have started on route 1 or route 2 you must stick to that module pathway.

Route 1 Course Structure (Part-Time)

Certificate Stage - Route 1 (Year 1)

If taking route 1, students must take 3 core modules from a choice of 4 (worth 60 CATS) - shown in the core module list shown below.

Diploma Stage - Route 1 (Year 2)

If taking route 1, students must take the remaining core module that was not taken at certificate stage PLUS 2 options from a choice of 10, shown below.

MSc Stage - Route 1 (Year 3)

If taking route 1, students can take EITHER the professional project (40 CATS) PLUS one optional module (that was not taken at diploma stage) OR students must take the dissertation ONLY (to take this option you must have completed Epidemiology and Statistics (core module) or Understanding Research and Critical Appraisal in Healthcare (option module) with a grade >60%). Route 2 Course Structure (Part-Time)

Certificate Stage - Route 2 (Year 1)

If taking route 2, students must take 2 core modules from a choice of 4 (worth 40 CATS) - shown below - PLUS 1 optional module from a choice of 9 - shown below.

Diploma Stage - Route 2 (Year 2)

If taking route 2, students must take the remaining core modules not chosen at certificate stage PLUS 1 optional module from a choice of 9 (cannot be the same module taken at certificate stage) - shown below.

MSc Stage - Route 2 (Year 3)

If taking route 2, students can take EITHER the professional project (40 CATS) PLUS one optional module (that was not taken at diploma stage) OR students must take the dissertation ONLY (to take this option you must have completed Epidemiology and Statistics (core module) or Understanding Research and Critical Appraisal in Healthcare (option module) with a grade >60%).   • Achieved 60% or above in Epidemiology and Statistics (core module) or Understanding Research and Critical Appraisal in Healthcare (option module).
  • Achieved an average mark of 60% or above at diploma stage.
  • Has an approved dissertation topic prior to submitting their protocol including identified supervisors.
