Aims and Learning Objectives
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
- Understand and critically appraise the evidence around effective managerial and leadership behaviour, skills and styles required to deliver sustained improvement in health and delivery of healthcare
- Understand and critically appraise organisational cultures that create the environment for the delivery of high quality and efficient healthcare
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the value of performance management, appraisal, mentoring, coaching and team working to create ideal cultures for the delivery of high quality and efficient healthcare
- Understand and critically evaluate the factors that lead to success for high performing health systems and entities nationally and internationally
- Reflect on personal managerial and leadership behaviours and skills and to identify strengths and development areas
- Explain critically the relationships and connections between different organisations working in the same healthcare system, and how authority and influence can be exercised across organisational boundaries
