• A thorough theoretical knowledge of the anatomy, pathophysiology of common disease affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, and the muscles, ligaments, tendons and other tissues of the upper limb
• A thorough knowledge of the epidemiology of upper limb pain
• A thorough knowledge of the diagnostic and treatment modalitites available for the management of upper limb pain
• A working knowledge of the clinical management protocols which are supported by evidence
• The ability to explain common upper limb musculoskeletal disease and its management
• The ability to communicate with other health care professionals to facilitate interdisciplinary teamworking
• The ability to use critical appraisal skills
• The ability to evaluate and use different sources of evidence appropriately
