Moorfield

Since 1995, Moorfield have produced R&D/pilot-scale 'MiniLab' vacuum deposition systems for academia and industry. Operating out of Knutsford, Cheshire, the company has established a global network of customers who require cost-effective, flexible solutions to satisfy deposition requirements throughout numerous high-technology fields.

Recently, the company have broadened their product portfolio to include research-scale 'nanoCVD' systems for bench-top production of the so-called 'wonder' materials graphene and carbon nanotubes. These systems implement the promising chemical vapour deposition (CVD) technique. As part of their development, Moorfield have collaborated with the Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group. Through this collaboration, Warwick students have been provided with access to state-of-the-art technology for easy, rapid synthesis of high-quality carbon nanomaterials. Samples produced have been used for research into applications such as sensors and for studying fundamental physical properties such as electron transfer kinetics. In turn, Moorfield have benefited from extensive user feedback regarding system operation and performance that has proven invaluable during design optimisation.
