Yang Wang joined Power and Control Systems Laboratory in School of Engineering at the University of Warwick as a Research Assistant/Fellow in 2017. Yang received her BEng in Thermal and Energy Engineering and MSc in Power Engineering and Thermophysics from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU, China) in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Then, she started to pursue her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London, UK, focusing on Adjoint and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solvers’ development, numerical modelling and optimisation.

Now, she is working as a research staff on the EPSRC funded projects ‘Next Generation Grid Scale Thermal Energy Storage Technologies (NexGen-TEST)’ and Ultra-Supercritical (USC) steam power generation technology with Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB): Combustion, Materials and Modelling (USC-CFB-CMM).

Research Interests

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Adjoint method and shape optimisation
  • Flow, heat and mass transfer in renewable energy systems
  • Applied thermal engineering and fluid machinery
