home

All the accepted papers (8 Keynote papers and 51 contributed papers) have been subject to rigorous peer review and have been published by IOPSCIENCE as Volume 26 of Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science. The volume is split into thematic sections. All the papers are open access, indexed in ISI Thompson Reuters (Web of knowledge), Scopus and Engineering Village and can be freely downloaded at the following link:

The selection of papers for Special Issues in the Journal Engineering Geology (Elsevier) and International Journal of Geohazards and Environment has been completed.

The presentations of several Keynote speakers and the material presented by Kate Hibbert is available in the section Presentations.

The Symposium saw the participation of 75 delegates for 2 days at University of Warwick. Considering the fact that this type of Symposium is the first of its kind, the event was a great success! The photos of the event are now available in the Event Photos section.

The Symposium was held under the auspices of 3 International Technical Committees of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering: TC105 ISSMGE, “Geomechanics from Micro to Macro”, TC208 ISSMGE, “Slope stability in Engineering Practice” and TC302 ISSMGE, “Forensic Geotechnical Engineering”. Also the support of the British Geotechnical Association is gratefully acknowledged. The event was partly funded by IRSES FP7 'Geohazards and geomechanics'. A second conference on 'Geohazards and geomechanics' will be organised by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona next year at a date to be announced shortly.

The Symposium brought together the complementary expertise of world leading groups carrying out research on the engineering assessment, prevention and mitigation of natural geohazards. The Symposium programme is available at the following link:
