Following graduation from Nottingham University with a BSc Hons in Nutrition, Corinne worked in the food industry as a Senior Quality Control Assistant. In 1985 she took a career break to look after her two children then in 1996 returned to employment as a Laboratory Technician in the nylon Quality, Research and Development laboratory at Dupont UK Ltd. Three years on she moved to the Defence Evaluation Research Agency (which was called QinetiQ following privatisation in 2001). Here, she worked for 10 years on semiconductor device processing for III-V materials. During this time she developed her skills on a wide range of processing techniques and increased her health and safety knowledge to support the safety management of the Emerging Technology Group. Following reorganisation at QinetiQ Malvern, Corinne moved to a Health and Safety Adviser role at QinetiQ Boscombe Down. Further reorganisation resulted in a move to an engineering company working as a H&S Administrator covering maternity leave. In 2013 Corinne joined the University of Warwick as the Semiconductor Process Technician for the Quantum Device Group.
Corinne is the principal Semiconductor Process Technician for the Quantum Devices group. In this role, she provides device fabrication and process development on III-V based semiconductors. In addition, she also provides device fabrication on a range of other semiconductor materials (e.g. silicon carbide, silicon, diamond) for internal and external customers. Corinne also contributes to the cleanroom operations by providing training on fabrication techniques and the use of equipment, together with assessment and calibration of new equipment and the maintenance of cleanroom consumables.
Corinne holds a NEBOSH Diploma and provides support in the management of the health and safety of the cleanroom laboratory. This includes tasks such as giving training on safe procedures, conducting risk assessments, control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessments, personal protective equipment assessments and providing first aid.
