Project Description
Conventional arch structures are one of three types: circular, parabolic, or catenary. None of them are optimal forms. The proposed research engages in form-finding of arch forms to produce structures that are optimal for any ratio of self weight to imposed loading, where the term 'optimal' means a natural structural form, efficient in material usage, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
