3D printing - more than just plastic trinkets

3D printing has been around for a long time and it has no-doubt given creative people a fantastic way to bring their creations to life. Whether you’ve designed a trinket, bracket or hard-core engineering component, 3D printing can make it a reality for you. But the future of 3D printing doesn’t stop there, the technology has the potential to be even more powerful. From developing new printable materials to be implanted in the body through to industry 4.0 technologies such as printing objects containing an electronic nervous system and novel approaches for autonomous robotic 3D printing, this talk will introduce some of the work being undertaken in the Digital and Material Technologies Laboratory in the School of Engineering.
