Syllabus

Derivation of governing equations; Discretization of governing equations using the finite difference, volume and element techniques; Source term coupling and linearization; Convective term treatments including HYBRID, QUICK, CONDIF and bounding schemes; Strategies for prediction of pressure fields including SIMPLE, SIMPLEC, AVPI and PISO; Transient flows; Industrial turbulence models including mixing length, k-l, k-e, non-linear eddy viscosity; zonal, algebraic stress and second moment closure models; Compressible flow techniques including shock capturing and fitting; Prediction of scalar and particulate transport; Convergence acceleration including multigrid methods, Grid embedding, multi-block and sliding grid techniques; Prediction of rotating flows; Industrial applications of CFD; Practical advice for gaining convergence and setting up CFD models etc.
