Hetsys recruits enthusiastic students from across the physical sciences who enjoy using their mathematical skills and thinking flexibly to solve complex problems to join our training programme. We require at least a II(i) honours degree at BSc or an integrated masters degree (e.g. MPhys, MChem, MSci, MEng etc.) in a physical sciences, mathematics or engineering discipline. Funding is not available for those already in possession of a PhD.
We offer up to 10 fully funded positions for each year which will cover fees, a stipend to cover maintenance and generous research training support.

All applications must be made using the central university postgraduate application form.
Please read the postgraduate step by step guide for help with the application process. The course code is P-F343 (PhD - Modelling of Heterogeneous Systems). Select School of Engineering and search on F343 for the CDT.
In the Research Proposal section of the application form, there is no need to upload a proposal. Instead, please nominate 1-3 projects you are interested in, in order of preference.

International applicants must have, or be expected to achieve, an English language test certificate that meets our Band A English language requirements. Please see our Study pages for the English Language qualifications accepted by the University of Warwick.
You will need two references from academic staff who have taught you on your current or most recent degree. The University will accept professional references if you have been out of higher education for over two years. These must be submitted by your current or most recent line manager. Please note that personal references, such as those from family and friends, are not acceptable.
