Travel advice

There are two Universities in the Coventry area, so be sure to ask for the UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK and not the University of Coventry.

For TRAVEL BY CAR and access from the A45 or A46 see the University's instructions.

JOURNEYS FROM AIRPORTS

Birmingham, Heathrow and Gatwick are the most convenient international airports.

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT is the closest airport - 18 miles away (approximately 30 minutes by coach).
There are now many international flights to Birmingham and this is by far the most convenient airport. (It is not worth taking an internal flight from Gatwick or Heathrow to Birmingham.) From Birmingham Airport Terminal 1 take the shuttle train service between the Airport and Birmingham International Railway Station, take a train to Coventry Railway Station (trains run approximately every half hour during the day; a 20 minute journey). After which follow the University's instructions. Alternatively, a taxi from Birmingham Airport to the Mathematics Institute will cost approximately £25-£35.

Heathrow Airport is 95 miles away (approximately 2.5 hours by coach).
Take a National Express coach to Coventry, Pool Meadow Bus Station. At Heathrow they have pickup points at the Central Bus Station and at the terminal buildings of Terminals 4, 5 and tickets should be purchased from the National Express Desk in your arrival terminal, or from the National Express office in the Central Coach Station at Heathrow; advance booking is available via the internet or on a telephone service 0990-757-747 from 08.00-22.00 but we cannot make reservations on your behalf.

Gatwick Airport is 130 miles away (approximately 3.5 hours by coach).
Take a National Express coach to Coventry, Pool Meadow Bus Station. From there following University Instructions.

Other airports are NOT as convenient but here are the details.

Manchester Airport is 97 miles away (approximately 3.5 hours by coach).
There is a coach service operated by National Express Coaches. It is also possible to come by rail but this involves going by train from the airport to central Manchester, National Rail and then by train to Coventry, changing at Birmingham. There are European flights to and from Manchester and some intercontinental flights.

Luton Airport is 70 miles away (approximately 2 hours by coach). This is a small airport with mainly European flights. There is a National Express Coaches service from here to Coventry, but this service is very limited (more frequent in the Summer months). If the coach is not available then it will be necessary to go by train via London to Coventry and this makes the journey time around 3.5 hours.

Stansted Airport is 112 miles away (approximately 3.5 hours by coach).

JOURNEYS FROM CENTRAL LONDON

There are trains every half hour throughout the day from London Euston Station to Coventry; approximately 60 minute journey. For train timetables see National Rail.
