Ancient Paths for Modern Kids

The theme is based on the impacts of the changing environmental exposures faced by modern children upon evolutionarily ancient components of the immune system. As a paediatrician, I am aware of changing clinical patterns of diseases such as food allergy in the children that I see. I will try to explain why such changes may be occurring, and will contrast the patterns of immune-mediated illness in privileged children from the developed world with those from underprivileged resource-poor countries.
