Nothing in microbiology makes sense except in the light of evolution

Fifty years ago, the great evolutionary biologist Theodosius Dobzhansky coined the maxim “Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution”.

In this lecture, Professor Pallen will illustrate Dobzhansky’s dictum with reference to the microbial world, drawing on examples from his own career to link Darwin’s Origin of Species to the origins of infection, and much more.
