Congratulations to Mr Ling Wong, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at WMS, who has been awarded the accolade for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Education of Warwick Medical Students’ at this year’s UHCW OSCA Awards.

The OSCAs – the Outstanding Service and Care Awards – are now in their eleventh year and celebrate the outstanding achievements of UHCW staff across a range of categories, from ‘Compassion in Care’ to ‘Behind the Scenes’.

Warwick Medical School MB ChB students and UHCW colleagues were invited to nominate teaching staff earlier in the year to recognise them for teaching excellence. Mr Wong, who has been involved in teaching our students since 2007, received the highest number of nominations and Professor Colin Macdougall, our Head of Medical Education, was delighted to present him with the award at a ceremony on 28 September.

Speaking about Mr Wong, one of his colleagues said: ‘He is soft spoken and well liked by the students he teaches. He quietly gets on with his role and has been instrumental in his delivery. This award is a recognition of his perseverance and continued input in teaching.”
