Continuing your GP career in and around Coventry

There are plenty of opportunities to continue your training in General Practice locally once you’ve finished your medical degree.

In your first years of specialist training, there is a strong Vocational Training course in the local area to support you through.

You may also want to consider opportunities in academic general practice - research and teaching - by applying for one of a number of Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) posts locally which offer additional training in General Practice education and research alongside your clinical training, or the In-Practice Fellowships for individuals who have had little formal academic training.

An exciting range of new career development opportunities were launched in 2016. A collaboration between Health Education West Midlands and Coventry & Rugby CCG, the new ‘Post CCT’ posts offer newly qualified GPs opportunities to work in innovative posts that offer extended skills training in clinical speciality areas, leadership, education and research.

WPC work closely with the Coventry & Rugby GP Academy, RCGP Midlands Faculty and a wider network to support local General Practice development. We run a programme of Masterclasses tackling today’s hot topics using our cutting edge primary care research along with a wider range of educational activities.
