Postgraduate Awards (PGA)

Many individual modules are available to take as standalone qualifications. This allows you to sample the level of study and commitment required at postgraduate level without committing to a masters degree.

An undergraduate degree is not always necessary

You can still apply for postgraduate courses at WMS if you are a UK resident and do not hold an undergraduate degree. Your application will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • You hold a professional or clinical position in a speciality that is relevant to the course you are applying for
  • You have four years post-registration experience and are currently employed in a senior clinical position
  • Your application demonstrates your ability to undertake postgraduate study assessed by
    • At least one reference demonstrating that you have the ability to meet the academic demands of the course
    • The ability to study alongside clinical work commitments

Provided you meet the criteria, you will be permitted entry onto a PGA that will usually consist of one module. If you wish to progress on to further study once you have completed your award, this will be reviewed dependant on your performance.

Many applicants joining postgraduate courses via this route who are successful in their PGAs have continued with postgraduate study in the Medical School including Master’s degrees.
