Learn to
- Develop leadership and management skills for the organisation and delivery of child health services within a multidisciplinary and multiagency framework
- Develop skills in critical appraisal and evidence-based practice of child health
- Develop an ecological and child-centred approach to the practice of child health
- Explain and interpret children’s rights, debate the pros and cons of a children’s rights framework, and be able to reflect on their own practice in child health in the light of such rights
- Critically evaluate child health programmes in the light of the UN convention on the rights of the child, and apply principles of children’s rights in designing and evaluating new programmes
- Critically appraise published literature on the social, biological and environmental context of child health and demonstrate how an understanding of these contexts affects their own practice in child health
- Recognise and respond to different aspects of childhood vulnerability and resilience, including issues related to disability, ethnicity and gender
- Critique recognised theories of child development, and relate these to their own practice in child health
- Assimilate the learning from this module, combining knowledge of different models of childhood and demonstrate how these relate to a broader understanding of child health
