Aims and Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the importance of the historical nature of philosophical and psychopathological concepts to current debates in psychiatry and the philosophy of psychiatry
  • Critically appraise and evaluate a key figure’s ideas in the philosphical history of psychopathology
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in the analysis, assessment and construction of rational arguments
  • Identify arguments and synthesise them from a variety of sources
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive ability to use and understand properly specialised philosophical and psychopathological terminology
