Visual C++ 2005 problems with KB971090

In October 2009 I distributed a new version of a small application that I have created using Visual C++ 2005, and found that it would not run on the target machine, even though the previous version had run quite happily.

After many hours I finally worked out that this was because Microsoft Security update KB971090 had updated the MSVCRT dlls to version 4053, but there is nothing that will have updated the dlls on the client machines.

This can be fixed with the updated vcredist_x86.exe can be obtained from the Microsoft website
