About EuroWD

The European White Dwarf Workshop series is the most important meeting in the field of white dwarf research. It has now become an essential meeting point for scientists at the forefront of white dwarf research from all over the world who wish to discuss the latest cutting edge developments in our understanding of these stellar remnants.

The first European White Dwarf Workshop was held in Kiel, Germany, in 1974. Starting with only a handful of pioneers 40 years ago, this workshop has now grown into a large international conference where hundreds of astronomers from over 25 countries reunite every two years to exchange ideas, show their most recent findings, and share their common passion for white dwarf stars (see the nice collection of pictures on Detlev Koester's webpage: http://www1.astrophysik.uni-kiel.de/~koester/workshops/workshops.html).

This year's meeting will be 20th in the series. We hope this meeting will be a great success and that the long tradition of European White Dwarf Workshops will continue for many years to come.
