Structural Study of Lone Pair Cation in Glasses

"Thallium (Tl) and Tin (Sn) containing glasses has been studied using solid-stste nuclear magnetic resonance (Solid-state NMR), neutron diffraction and X-ray diffraction. Thallium and Tin tend to form the bond with oxygen in glass and causing the generating of lone pair electrons. These lone pair electrons are possible sterical active in a specific range of composition. Thus, the variation of thallium or tin content in glass has also been investigated"
