I was born and grown up in Athens, Greece where I graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a degree in Chemistry. I particularly enjoyed courses related to chemical analysis in the first and second year such as Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental methods and Analysis with a great interest in Chromatography and Spectroscopic Techniques. I was also keen on the biochemical aspect of analytical chemistry that is why in the 4th year of my studies my optional modules were chosen according to these two interests (Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology, Special topics in Spectroscopy, Control and Quality Assurance of medicines –medicines Accreditation).

My undergraduate dissertation was in bioinorganic chemistry studying the interaction of Pd-Poly-N-methacryloyl-L-alanine with ct-DNA by UV –Vis Spectroscopy, Circular Dichroism and Viscometry. Little by little, I realized that the combination of Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry intrigues me and that is why I was convinced that I should pursue my further career by applying for the AS:MIT Msc course.

The AS:MIT programme can be described as an updated course that corresponds to the needs of job market. In the same time it is a demanding course including taught modules, group projects and a final project. The first six months where we had our taught modules I mostly enjoyed Chromatography, NMR and Mass Spectrometry due to the instrumental facilities that the University provides. I found also fascinating the communication that we had with the real world analysis through lectures given by people working in companies where they apply Analytical Techniques, as it was given a realistic view (advantages, disadvantages) regarding the application of Analytical Science.
