block-01
- Our courses are one-year, full-time postgraduate courses. All courses will start on the 30th September 2019 and have a duration of 12 months.
- Most courses we offer are structured so that you take 90 credits worth of modules (we have 10 and 15 credit modules), complete post module assignments for each module, and execute a major research project.* (see bottom of the page for courses with exceptions to this structure)
- For most courses, the Project is worth 90 credit points (50% of the Master's credit) and you should work on it throughout the year, alongside your modules. The projects for CSE and HOM are 60 credit points, and the project for MBE contributes 100% of your Masters grade - see below for more information.
- Modules are generally taught in intensive one-week blocks from Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 6.30pm. Some modules are delivered over two weeks, and occasionally, you may be required to attend weekend sessions. They are taught through a variety of learning activities: lectures, seminar work, syndicate group activities, industrial games, practical exercises and case studies to encourage teamwork and practical grounding of the material. E-learning and forum activities are widely used to complement these activities.
- These week long sessions (up to nine in total over the course of the academic year) are scheduled at intervals from October through to June and attendance is compulsory. Modules are assessed by assignment, not exam, although for some modules there may be a test that will form part of the assessment.
- There are additional study skills sessions to assist you with your assignments and project work. These lectures are not assessed, but are compulsory for you to attend. Please note that some of these additional sessions may run at weekends.
