Learning environment
The Learning Environment
page explains how this course will help you to gain critical autonomy and deep learning. You will see that this course will provide you with a different learning experience - one in which you make choices on what you wish to learn and how you wish to achieve that learning. You will spend quite a lot of time working in teams. Apart from helping you to develop as both a leader and a follower, by working collaboratively you will learn faster than by working alone becasuse you will benefit from understanding the perspectives of your colleagues. Another part of the learning environment that you can actively engage in is that of journal writing.This is considered to be such an important part of your learning and development that your refective writing forms part of your assessment.The final part of the learning environment concerns feedforward which is a process that enables you to obtain guidance on draft work, thereby helping you to develop your ideas before the post module assignment is submitted for assessment.
Time management
Your past academic record indicates that you should be successful on this programme. Thus, the two factors that will play a huge part in your success this year are motivation to study and time management. We have created a programme which we believe you will enjoy and find motivating. Should this not be the case please contact either the course leader or your personal tutor for guidance. Time management is a skill that can be developed and you are encouraged to give thought to when and where you study best and how to fit non-academic activities into your study year.
Modules
Under the modules tab on the navigation bar is a list of the programme's core modules. You will take 9 core modules plus REME. The REME module is a four-day module that is not directly assessed. REME stands for Research Methodology. It is an important module because you will learn the skills needed to work on your project which compises 50% of your degree.
For each module is shown the module aim, outline syllabus and learning outcomes. The thematic links between the modules and the European Excellence Model are shown in a table that you may find this useful when considering your choice of elective module.
Schedule
You will see from the schedule of the core modules (when the full schedule is available) that they will be complete by mid-May. Thus, apart from elective modules and their associated post module assignments, from mid-May you should be able to work full time on your project.
However, it is essential that you select your project as early as possible and work on it continuously throughout the year. Delaying work on your project until completion of post module assignments is the most effective way of achieving an unsatisfactory project result.
MBE projects
It is important to select a project that both interests you and helps you in the next stage of your career. The MBE Projects page shows the topics that have been researched recently.
Discussion forum
The discussion forum has been set up as a general workspace for questions that you may have relating to the course. Please join the forum and take part in discussions. You may start your own thread as well as contribute to those of others.
Content store
The content store is a repository for files that you wish to share with your colleagues. Since each module website will have its own content store, please use this store for material that is of general use throughout the course.
