e-Business Management

Course Aims

 This degree will equip participants with the techniques to manage the strategic development of eBusiness based organisations and appropriate eBusiness technologies. Participants develop the skills and knowledge to evaluate, manage, and improve the operational functions of an organisation and to apply the concepts of systems integration to the design and development of products and services through market analysis. With the exponential growth in eBusiness activity worldwide, there is great demand for eBusiness professionals who bring particular specialised knowledge and skills. This MSc, therefore, allows participants to select from a list of specialisms, providing a deeper understanding of one of the key areas of eBusiness deployments and tailoring modules in line with their future career path.

Course Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the state-of-the-art in digital and eBusiness technologies
  • critically analyse complex business requirements and external factors, in order to devise, design and/or select appropriate digital solutions
  • demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the key drivers and uses of eBusiness technology in organisations
  • develop advanced digital transformation programs and solutions that are informed by the latest research and adhere to industry best practices
  • evaluate the impacts of digital transformation programs on the people, processes and technologies employed in an organisation
  • demonstrate a leadership ability in eBusiness management that incorporates relevant ethical, social, economic and technological frameworks to deliver a culture of continuous improvement

Module Requirements for e-Business Management

Candidates for the MSc will be required to take 180 credits, including:

  • 15 credits core
  • 15 credits required
  • 15 credits optional required
  • 75 credits optional
  • 60 credit project

Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma will be required to take 120 credits, including:

  • 15 credits core
  • 15 credits required
  • 15 credits optional required
  • 75 credits optional

Candidates for the Postgraduate Certificate will be required to pass 60 credits, including:

  • 15 credits core
  • 15 credits optional required
  • 15 credits optional

Candidates for the Postgraduate Award will be required to pass 30 credits, including:

  • 15 credits core
  • 15 credits optional required

Definition of terms:

  • Core: students must pass the module (50% or above)
  • Optional core: students must take the stated proportion of modules from this list and must achieve a pass (50% or above)
  • Required: students must achieve mark of 40% or above on the module
  • Optional required: students must take the stated proportion of modules from this list and must achieve mark of 40% or above
  • Defined Elective: students must take the stated proportion of modules from this limited list
  • Optional (elective) modules: students may take any remaining credits from this list after satisfying the list requirements outlined above
  • Students are still required to achieve the stated amount of passed credits and credits failed in the 40s for award as per General PGT Regulations page

Students may apply to the Programme Management for exemptions from specific modules, and, if granted, must select an alternative appropriate elective module to comply with the module requirements for the course. Modules listed under other WMG modular master’s degree regulations may be available to candidates for these awards as a replacement for those listed above, subject to approval by the Director of Studies.
